  • Oh Deer

over the weekend our son Jordan found this fawn at the end of his driveway

it's mother had been hit and killed by a car

Nash has been helping feed it goats milk

he's not too happy that they are taking him/her to

Berry College near where we live.

Berry College is an independent, coeducational institution founded in 1902,

and claims to have the largest contiguous campus in the world

26,000 acres or 27,000 depending on who you talk to.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources oversees about 16,000 acres of the campus,

conducts managed hunts and provides recreational opportunities within the department of regulations.

However, land encompassing the academic buildings and other public spaces

is a wildlife refuge in which no hunting is allowed.

    it's a beautiful place,

I think the deer will be happy there

    I know I would.

the Amaryllis have all finished blooming

    and the lavender has started

I don't have a picture of the lavender

I'll try to add one tomorrow

    but trust me

    it's beautiful and smells wonderful

I'm feeling a little better about the xanga situation

    things will work out

    I do believe in Xanga,

    I do! I DO! I do! I do!

  • Things always work out. One way of the other.
Very peaceful place and a beautiful red colored flower.

  • How sweet!  I think the deer will be VERY happy at the College!

  • Looks beautiful... Does it come with milk? :) hugs

  • Too cute! I hope the little one makes it. Your description of Xanga reminded me of Peter Pan and the plea to clap your hands if you believe in hopes of saving Tink or in this case Xanga!

  • @murisopsis -  :sunny: my thoughts exactly

  • @Tempguestbrief -  :nono: it did not, but i'm not sure where they got goats milk either, not at our our local grocery

  • Aww! That baby fawn is just precious!

  • :heartbeat: :heartbeat: I meant if the fawn needs to be hand fed, are there folks there who will feed it? Too sweet!! :heartbeat:

  • So great of you both to be taking care of the fawn. I'm sure it will be happy in it's new home. Some of us are trying out WordPress .com to see what it's like. Here's mine. It's not too difficult but will take some learning. I like it so far.

  • @Tempguestbrief -  :lookaround:  :spinning:

  • That is a sweet picture of Nash feeding the fawn. I know that it will be happy in a natural habitat. With some trepidation, I too am hopeful that Xanga will survive. The amaryllis looks gorgeous. My lavender is blooming. Do you have your amaryllis in the ground?

  • Spectacular place! Not every kid gets to have a pet deer even for a day or two.

  • @ZSA_MD -  they are in the ground, quite by accident as I had dug up some iris and replanted them, the amaryllis were a pleasant bonus hiding in the iris rhizomes and they are thriving, I never knew they would survive in the ground before...live and learn.. :sunny:

  • Aw, what a precious photo! I'm so glad that baby deer got some lovin' with Jordan...and then you all found him such a great home!

Beautiful flower! I'd love to see the lavender, too!

    HUGS!!!
PS...I'm hopin' wishin' etc and so on and so forth for Xanga! Sprinklin' some magic fairy dust around the place, too!

  • You are one of the people I have particularly missed during my hiatus. . .what is going on with XANGA? I am sure it is not because they couldn't survive without ME. ANYWay, nice the deer could be saved. The adventure persists inspite of us all. Peace and rich blessings be with you dear unmet friend of my heart.

  • The only milk they accept is goat milk.
The only problem in putting back in nature is how the others would accept him with human scent? Nature can be cruel.
