otters in the stream
A couple months ago while Nash and I were at the creek
an animal came swimming down stream
it looked like an otter
when I told Barry what I thought I saw
He said:
"it was a muskrat"
Well...
yesterday morning the boss's daughter,Jordan
was jogging through the park and guess what she saw
an otter swimming in the creek
she took this picture with her cell phone
(it'd already left the creek at that point)

That is indeed an otter. That is not in fact a creek though.
That is too cool! Otters are adorable.
@Ampbreia - hahaha - the creek is behind him/her, the otter actually ran from the creek and under the bed and breakfast house that is in the park
Otters usually inhabit creeks and streams that connect to major rivers. They do travel overland and can look lost. Glad you have proof that otters live in your area. BTW what state is this picture taken?

That sure as hell was no muskrat. I love otters, they are playful and damned near magical to me.
Once again, I envy you.
Cute otter. Glad you showed a pic of it. Zoo in my town has muskrats, and I took lots of photos of the cute bugger. I don't think they look alike.
way cool!!!!!
That's just too cool. I love those little things. They are amazing. I'd recommend if I could, but your site won't let me.
@PPhilip - NW Georgia about 70 miles northwest of Atlanta our creek is spring fed and pure, it connects downstream to the Coosa River, which is too polluted for otters I think...
Lucky duck! Otters are fun to watch and they are not even close to muskrats in size or appearance. So glad you have photographic evidence... Some people are hard to convince otherwise!
Alas some otters do not live in Texas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_river_otter
Thanks for making me aware that that Georgia has otters.
Yeah you tell him that girl! (btw, I wouldn't know if it's an otter or a muskrat. But every one here thinks it is an otter, so I say, "What the heck Barry, it is an otter for God's sake!)
@PPhilip - :sunny: you are welcome :sunny: Most of my family live in Texas, ya'll have Badgers Georgia does not, Badgers are as cute as Otters only meaner - I have no pictures of badgers though :lookaround:
@ZSA_MD -
you made me laugh - I told Barry about the otters and he said he would read my xanga and look for himself...
Cute!!!
River otters are pretty common in our area.
