Politicians and PBS
I was real disappointed last night when Nash and I tuned in PBS
(Georgia Public Broadcasting in our case)
to watch the election return stuff.
We were totally expecting Burt and Ernie to be commentating
I thought
" gee what a great learning venue this would be, election returns for kids"
Then I did some research and found that the candidates have
totally screwed that up....
Who in there right mind would threaten Big Bird
or PBS
apparently the republicans and the democrats.
shame on you politicians - someone should stick you in a trash can with
Oscar the Grouch
I bet Jim Henson is rolling over in his grave

totally unrelated to PBS is this
I know it's not turquoise but it reminded me of heart_beep

Ha, "One Day Your Van Will Come" love it.
I take PBS for granted but still PBS is another option to listen to another voice. Imagine if there were less voices to hear?
lol love it!! <3
It was the Republicans who threaten to cut off funds to PBS.
I will stand up for Big Bird any day!
Those shortened VW buses are cool. I haven't seen one in years.
@angys_coco -
There's a problem with that? Don't know much about public broadcasting, do you?
I would suggest any American learn about our CBC. I guarantee you would shut your traps about PBS.
fun, fun and more fun. . .
@angys_coco - it was the republicans who talked of not funding PBS, it was probably their undoing, although the democrats did have Big Bird on one of their ads, Sesame Street made both parties remove the ads post haste :nono:
One of the young life guards has one of these but he painted it light aqua and off white. you can see it here:

I can't plant any more trees, this lot has no more room for trees.
Long live Big Bird!!
You teach me , Marsha  I had to go to Wikipedia to know who Big Bird was :fun:
It is a funny way to comment the elections !! :coolman:
I thank you because I know now a star for children, little or not, at the American TV :goodjob:
Have a good evening

I do believe a while ago public broadcasting decided they shouldn't rely on government funding (it was threatened in 2006 with the same idea of cutting government support) and now only gets about 10% of their budget from them. While I find the whole thing ridiculous - how can .014% of the debt be fixed by getting rid of public broadcasting support - big bird was never in any real danger from the GOP.
