Theodore Robinson
As part of Fill Facebook With Art, Melinda Watson aka saintvi gave me the honor of posting Theodore Robinson and I decided that it would be nice if xanga were filled with art also, so here ya go.Theodore Robinson (July 3, 1852 - April 2, 1896) was an American painter best known for his impressionist landscapes. He was one of the first American artists to take up impressionism in the late 1880s, visiting Giverny and developing a close friendship with Claude Monet. Several of his works are considered masterpieces of American Impressionism.Today Robinson's paintings are in the collections of many major museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City; the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; and the Art Institute of Chicago. Ooh! I want to do this too! And to think I was just posting about art today!!
I'm enjoying all the art and looking up artists to assign to people. Love this artist! Thank you for playing!
Val, do you want me to assign you an artist over on Facebook?
cool.
I love the Impressionist style! Lovely selections here.
Those look to be right up there with the French Impressionists' works. I will check to see if any of his works are in the Phoenix Museum of Art or in LACMA.
The last painting looks like a Van Gogh's one . Not surprising: the impressionism is there .
Giveny is a village of nORMANDY not far from Amiens and the gardens of Claude MONET in that village are famous.
Very interesting post,Marsha.

The top one reminded me of my mother. She loves gardening, and the puppies are cute. (too bad the girl isn't smiling about their cuteness).
Never get enough art...beautiful selection
Cool!
His work conjures up many "I wonders" in my mind as I think about the subjects of his paintings!
