Rabbit NPM # 9
Rabbit
When my siblings and I were young
our father would not let us play
with kids he didn’t knowThere were three of us girls
and one rotten boy
playing together was usually quite funWe made up our own games
built forts of pine straw
found crawdads in creek beds
and then let them goSome games were right dangerous
thinking back on those days
where was our Mother?Good grief I can’t say!
Our favorite included
a black pellet gun
Oldest sister would aim it and sayRUN RABBIT RUN
We ran through the brambles
round bushes and trees
if we could find one
through fences we’d squeezeHer aim was right deadly
from practice I guess
she aimed for our buttocks
and never our headsthis picture was taken in 1969, that's me on the left, oldest sister next to me, you can probably pick out the rotten brother and baby sister
Even with sore buttocks we still love each other very very much!We all made it to adulthood in one piece, by God's Good Grace I'm sure.
Now I'm off to help set up tables at church,
The Baptist women are hosting a brunch Saturday, I'm looking forward to it.
If there's one thing I can tell you for sure about Southern Baptist women
it's they know how to cook!Have a Great Evening

Now kids get expelled from school just for pointing a finger at another kid and yelling bang.
that's a cool old photo.
What a sweet story Marsha. I loved reading it. Love the old picture too. Sweet memory.
Love that pic of the bunnies!
Oooo. Now I wish I could experience some Southern Baptist cooking.
*tummy grumbles*
Yikes! Shot with a pellet gun!
Ouch!! Sounds like she had the most fun in that game!!
I remember doing things that would have social services pulling their hair. I think our angels did double duty when we were growing up.
We had bb guns too and a 22. My uncle once told me he was hunting around our place when he was just 11 or so with the 22. He shot rabbits and squirrels. We never shot each other with bb guns. We were taught never to point a gun at anyone. I think we listened to that advice.
My father had a bb gun, but we kids never played with it.
That bunny is adorable, and I love that you shared your old family photo and story.
As for Baptist cooking, well since on Wed and Sunday nights I work in a Baptist church nursery (the rest of the week I am at the Methodist church as they have so many more programs, or off with private home visits)' I do get to partake of their cooking. Yum yum, and so filling. There is always plenty.
I enjoyed your poem!

As one of eight kids, myself, we had lots of adventures...some good, some not so good. Amazing what the older kids can talk the younger kids into doing.
Love the photo!
HUGS and Happy Whee-kend!!!
Ha! That's an awesome rabbit photo at the top. He looks curious and adorable!
I enjoyed the wonderful story telling through the poetry! I really liked the family picture! What fun! I remember making up my own games as a child, too! And yes, I've not found a church group yet who couldn't cook up fantastic tables of food!
You're right about someone who has the best interest of the country at heart, to vote for. They are very power hungry and it seems they all cave to the establishment. I think we need a miracle and soon! I believe God's people are praying and miracles happen!
the pillow is cute and it will soon be mother's day.
