Still Shining On
The September 19 moon will rise after sunset for most of us around the globe.
Why?
Because, by the time you read this, the crest of the moon’s full phase has already happened.
In the U.S., Europe and Africa, we can consider both the September 18 and 19 moons as the Harvest Moon in 2013.
For Asia, the September 19 moon is the Harvest Moon.
The moon reached the crest of its full phase at 11:13 Universal Time this morning, September 19.
That was 6:13 a.m. this morning – on September 19 – for the central U.S.
Does this mean you’ve missed the Harvest Moon?
Not at all – if you live at northerly latitudes!

This is my favorite of the Harvest Moon photographs I've seen today:
Peter Deane in Tucson captured this image of the September 18, 2013 moon.
Thanks, Peter!

on the questions about changing time here's some good googled information:
Spelling and grammar
The official spelling is Daylight Saving Time, not Daylight SavingS Time.
Saving is used here as a verbal adjective (a participle). It modifies time and tells us more about its nature; namely, that it is characterized by the activity of saving daylight. It is a saving daylight kind of time. Because of this, it would be more accurate to refer to DST as daylight-saving time. Similar examples would be a mind-expanding book or a man-eating tiger. Saving is used in the same way as saving a ball game, rather than as a savings account.
Nevertheless, many people feel the word savings (with an 's') flows more mellifluously off the tongue. Daylight Savings Time is also in common usage, and can be found in dictionaries.
Adding to the confusion is that the phrase Daylight Saving Time is inaccurate, since no daylight is actually saved. Daylight Shifting Time would be better, and Daylight Time Shifting more accurate, but neither is politically desirable.

I tried to save time once, but it ended costing me more time in the long run. A penny however saved is a penny earned, but the most important saving is saving room for dessert.
I was up this am as the moon was setting and I couldn't help but think it was a small wonder I slept at all last night.
Love the photo and impressed with the information. I am a bottom line kind of guy and my wife the opposite. lol
I guess Day Light Saving Time used to make sense. I wish they would just leave it alone. lol
I never knew that.
that is a creepy creature.
I liked to go in spook houses with my boys when they were little
Thank you for the info Marsha.
Love your Moon observations, I'm bit of a Moon watcher myself.
Good explaination of DST. But don't get me started, DST is the most complicated algorithm to prove any cost or daylight saving or savings. But "shifting" is an excellent visualization. It saves us nothing because the earth turns gradually and continuously, not in 4 big hops from one imaginary time zone to another. What you gained in the evening is the daylight that you have just lost that morning. I would rather have it daylight at an earlier hour. Sadly Arizona is the only State that gets it right by not participating in such foolishness. Thank you for letting me get over my annual DST rant early this year. :\ I'm like Frank, don't fool with the time.
I hate that Indiana now does the DST. We used to just BE and let everyone around us go nutty with the time change. Now we are in on that circus too. *sigh* I have a clock at work that is impossible to change so it is only on the right time after we "fall back"
Love the harvest moon and fall smells in the air. Some people oppose burning leaves but I really enjoy that smell and the memories it brings.
We had a great moon, pity that there were too many clouds and we had just a glimpse of the moon before being swallowed by the clouds.
particle boring wha-hunh? that naughty smarty pants word always did sound like a car frozen into a waterfall. of course thank you
I may now sneak up on someone and lay a lil smart on them....you know so they can wryly say that, "smarts." and it's a nice reminder of when to naught get caught with my pants down coming early to work.
The moon has been splendid the last few days. I like that picture with the gargoyle like figure; it's great for the speason.
This post reminds me of a the start of a song "If I could save time in a bottle...."
Cool photos and info!

I've really been enjoying the moon this past week!
I don't participate in DST!
HUGS!!!
very cool
Ahhh Yes Broadway Joe... What quarterback could top that?
Mantener esta higiene es doblemente esencial si vas a utilizar el juguete con tu pareja en orden a evitar el

No obstante, en el contexto actual, en este momento exacto del siglo XXI que nos contempla con consternado, lo que mola no es ser gafapasta.
